Turkey Wings, Yellow Rice, Mac and Cheese, and Cabbage 🍗🍚🧀🥬


 

This comforting, hearty meal is packed with flavors that will satisfy the whole family. From the tender turkey wings to the creamy mac and cheese, every bite is a treat!


Ingredients:

For the Turkey Wings:


4-6 turkey wings

2 tablespoons olive oil

1 onion, chopped

4 cloves garlic, minced

1 teaspoon paprika

1 teaspoon garlic powder

1 teaspoon onion powder

1 teaspoon dried thyme

1 teaspoon dried rosemary

1 teaspoon salt

½ teaspoon black pepper

1 cup chicken broth

1 tablespoon soy sauce

1 tablespoon honey (optional, for sweetness)

For the Yellow Rice:


2 cups long-grain rice

4 cups chicken broth

1 tablespoon butter

1 teaspoon turmeric

1 teaspoon garlic powder

½ teaspoon salt

½ teaspoon black pepper

For the Mac and Cheese:


8 oz elbow macaroni (or pasta of choice)

2 tablespoons butter

2 tablespoons all-purpose flour

2 cups whole milk

2 cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese

1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese

1 teaspoon garlic powder

1 teaspoon mustard powder (optional)

Salt and pepper to taste

For the Cabbage:


1 medium head of cabbage, chopped

1 tablespoon olive oil

1 onion, chopped

2 cloves garlic, minced

½ teaspoon salt

½ teaspoon black pepper

1 teaspoon apple cider vinegar (optional, for tang)

Instructions:

Turkey Wings:

1️⃣ Season the Turkey Wings:


Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).

Rub the turkey wings with olive oil, and season with paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, thyme, rosemary, salt, and black pepper.

2️⃣ Sear the Turkey Wings:


In a large oven-safe pan or skillet, heat a little more olive oil over medium-high heat.

Add the turkey wings and sear them for 3-4 minutes per side until golden brown.

3️⃣ Add Aromatics and Broth:


Add the onion and garlic to the pan and sauté for 2 minutes.

Pour in the chicken broth, soy sauce, and honey. Stir to combine.

4️⃣ Bake the Turkey Wings:


Cover the pan with foil and bake in the oven for about 1.5 - 2 hours, or until the turkey wings are tender and cooked through. Baste with the pan juices halfway through.

Yellow Rice:

1️⃣ Prepare the Rice:


In a medium saucepan, heat the butter over medium heat.

Add the rice and sauté for 2-3 minutes to lightly toast it.

2️⃣ Cook the Rice:


Add the chicken broth, turmeric, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper.

Bring it to a boil, then reduce the heat to low and cover the pot.

Simmer for 15-18 minutes, or until the rice is fully cooked and tender.

Mac and Cheese:

1️⃣ Cook the Pasta:


Boil the elbow macaroni according to package instructions. Drain and set aside.

2️⃣ Make the Cheese Sauce:


In a large saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat.

Whisk in the flour and cook for 1-2 minutes to form a roux.

Slowly add the milk while whisking constantly until the sauce thickens, about 5 minutes.

3️⃣ Add the Cheese:


Lower the heat and add the cheddar cheese and mozzarella cheese. Stir until the cheese melts and the sauce is smooth.

Season with garlic powder, mustard powder, salt, and pepper.

4️⃣ Combine the Pasta and Cheese Sauce:


Add the drained macaroni to the sauce and stir until well coated. Serve immediately.

Cabbage:

1️⃣ Cook the Cabbage:


In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat.

Add the onion and garlic and sauté until softened, about 5 minutes.

2️⃣ Add the Cabbage:


Add the chopped cabbage to the pan and stir to combine.

Season with salt and pepper, and cook for 7-10 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the cabbage is tender but still a bit crisp.

3️⃣ Finish with Vinegar:


Add a splash of apple cider vinegar for a tangy kick (optional) and stir well before serving.

Serve:
