🧀 Ingredients:
For the Meatloaf:
1 ½ lbs ground beef
1 small onion, finely diced 🧅
1 small green bell pepper, finely diced 🫑
1 cup shredded provolone or mozzarella cheese 🧀
½ cup breadcrumbs
2 eggs 🥚
2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
1 teaspoon garlic powder 🧄
1 teaspoon salt 🧂
½ teaspoon black pepper
1 tablespoon olive oil 🫒
For the Topping:
4 slices provolone cheese 🧀
½ cup sautéed mushrooms (optional) 🍄
🔪 Directions:
1. Preheat & Prep
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
Grease a 9x5-inch loaf pan or line it with parchment paper.
2. Sauté the Vegetables
In a skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat.
Add the onions and bell peppers and cook until soft (about 5 minutes).
Let them cool slightly before adding to the meat mixture.
3. Make the Meatloaf Mixture
In a large bowl, mix ground beef, breadcrumbs, eggs, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, salt, and pepper.
Stir in the cooked onions, bell peppers, and shredded cheese.
Mix until just combined (don’t overmix, or the meatloaf may become tough).
4. Shape & Bake
Transfer the mixture to the loaf pan and shape it evenly.
Bake for 45-50 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 160°F (71°C).
5. Add the Cheese Topping
Remove the meatloaf from the oven and top with provolone cheese slices and sautéed mushrooms (if using).
Return to the oven and bake for another 5 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
6. Rest & Serve
Let the meatloaf rest for 5-10 minutes before slicing.
Serve with mashed potatoes, roasted veggies, or a crusty hoagie roll for the full Philly cheesesteak experience!
