Flaky, buttery puff pastry layers filled with melty cheese and savory ham—these Italian-inspired sandwiches are an elegant twist on a classic croque monsieur!


Ingredients: 🛒

🔸 For the Puff Pastry Sandwiches:


1 sheet puff pastry, thawed

4 slices prosciutto or Italian ham

4 slices provolone or mozzarella cheese

2 tbsp butter, melted

½ tsp garlic powder

1 tbsp grated Parmesan cheese

1 tsp fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

1 egg yolk + 1 tbsp water (for egg wash)

🔸 For the Béchamel Sauce (Optional but Delicious!):


1 tbsp butter

1 tbsp all-purpose flour

½ cup milk

¼ tsp salt

¼ tsp black pepper

¼ cup grated Parmesan

Instructions: 👨‍🍳

1️⃣ Prepare the Puff Pastry: Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Roll out the puff pastry and cut it into equal squares. Brush each piece lightly with the egg wash.


2️⃣ Assemble the Sandwiches: Layer cheese and prosciutto between two puff pastry squares. Repeat to create more sandwiches.


3️⃣ Brush & Bake: Brush the tops with melted butter, sprinkle with garlic powder and grated Parmesan. Bake for 15-18 minutes or until golden brown and crispy.


4️⃣ Make the Béchamel Sauce (Optional): In a small saucepan, melt butter and whisk in flour. Gradually add milk, whisking until smooth. Stir in Parmesan, salt, and black pepper. Simmer until thickened.


5️⃣ Serve & Enjoy: Drizzle béchamel over the sandwiches or serve on the side for dipping. Garnish with fresh parsley and enjoy!
