4 tablespoons (55g) unsalted butter, melted
¼ cup (30g) sliced almonds

1 tablespoon milk
½ teaspoon almond extract
📝 Instructions
Step 1: Prepare the Almond Filling
In a bowl, mix almond paste, sugar, butter, and almond extract until smooth. Set aside.
Step 2: Make the Coffee Cake Batter
Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9-inch round or square baking pan.
In a bowl, whisk flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and cinnamon.
In another bowl, beat butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until fluffy.
Mix in eggs, vanilla extract, and sourdough discard.
Alternately add dry ingredients and milk, mixing until combined.
Step 3: Assemble the Cake
Pour half of the batter into the prepared pan.
Dollop the almond filling over the batter and spread gently.
Top with the remaining batter and smooth the surface.
Step 4: Make the Streusel Topping
In a bowl, mix flour, brown sugar, cinnamon, and melted butter until crumbly.
Sprinkle over the cake, then top with sliced almonds.
Step 5: Bake the Cake
Bake for 40-45 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
Let cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack.

Whisk together powdered sugar, milk, and almond extract.
