Authentic Artisan Garlic Naan




 

 This fluffy and flavorful garlic naan is perfect for pairing with any meal, and its surprisingly easy to make at home!

 Ingredients:

 Naan Bread:

 1/4 cup warm water

 2 teaspoons sugar

 1 1/2 teaspoons active dry or instant yeast

 3/4 cup warm milk

 3/4 cup plain Greek yogurt or plain natural yogurt

 1/4 cup vegetable oil, plus 2 tablespoons extra for cooking

 2 cloves garlic, minced

 4 cups all-purpose flour 560g, plus extra for dusting

 1 teaspoon baking powder

 1 teaspoon salt

 Garlic Butter Topping:

 3 tablespoons butter, melted

 2 cloves garlic, minced

 1 teaspoon fresh cilantro or parsley, chopped

 Directions:

 Activate the Yeast: In a mixing bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for 5-10 minutes until it turns bubbly.

 Mix the Dough: Stir in the warm milk, yogurt, 1/4 cup vegetable oil, and minced garlic. Add flour, baking powder, and salt, mixing until a dough forms.

 Knead the Dough: Transfer the dough to a lightly floured surface and knead for 3-5 minutes until smooth and elastic.

 Let Dough Rise: Lightly oil a clean bowl, place the dough inside, cover, and let it rise for about 1 hour, or until it has doubled in size.

 Shape and Cook Naan: Divide the dough into 10 equal pieces and roll each piece into an oval shape. Heat a greased skillet over medium-high heat. Place a naan piece in the skillet, cook until bubbly, then flip and cook until golden brown. Repeat with the remaining dough.

 Garlic Butter Topping: In a small bowl, mix melted butter, minced garlic, and chopped herbs. Brush over the warm naan breads before serving.
