White Mushroom Pizza

 White Mushroom Pizza

Ingredients:

1 pizza dough (store-bought or homemade)

2 tablespoons olive oil, divided

2 cups mushrooms, sliced (such as cremini, button, or shiitake)

3 cloves garlic, minced

1/2 cup heavy cream

1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese

1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese

1/2 teaspoon dried oregano

1/2 teaspoon dried thyme

Salt and black pepper, to taste

Fresh basil or parsley, for garnish (optional)

Cornmeal or flour, for dusting

Instructions:

Preheat the oven:

Preheat your oven to 475°F (245°C). If using a pizza stone, place it in the oven to preheat as well.

Prepare the mushrooms:

In a skillet, heat 1 tablespoon olive oil over medium heat.

Add the sliced mushrooms and cook for 5-7 minutes, until they release their moisture and begin to brown. Season with a pinch of salt and pepper, then set aside.

Make the garlic cream sauce:

In the same skillet, add the remaining 1 tablespoon olive oil and minced garlic. Cook for 1-2 minutes until fragrant, then stir in the heavy cream.

Cook the cream sauce on low heat, stirring occasionally, until it begins to thicken (about 3-4 minutes). Add the Parmesan cheese, oregano, thyme, salt, and pepper to taste. Stir until smooth and set aside.

Prepare the pizza dough:

On a lightly floured surface or a sheet of parchment paper dusted with cornmeal, stretch or roll the pizza dough into a 12-inch circle.

Assemble the pizza:

Spread the garlic cream sauce evenly over the pizza dough, leaving a 1/2-inch border around the edges.

Top with the cooked mushrooms, followed by the mozzarella cheese.

Bake the pizza:

Transfer the pizza to the preheated oven (or onto the pizza stone if using) and bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the crust is golden and the cheese is bubbly.

Garnish and serve:

Remove the pizza from the oven and garnish with fresh basil or parsley, if desired.

Slice and serve immediately.
