Crispy Southern Fried Chicken

- 4 chicken thighs
- 4 chicken drumsticks
- 2 cups buttermilk
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon paprika
- 2 teaspoons garlic powder
- 2 teaspoons onion powder
- 1 teaspoon cayenne pepper
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
- Vegetable oil for frying

1. In a large bowl, soak the chicken pieces in buttermilk for at least 1 hour in the refrigerator.
2. In a separate bowl, combine flour, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, cayenne pepper, salt, and black pepper.
3. Remove chicken from buttermilk, allowing excess to drip off. Dredge each piece in the flour mixture until well coated.
4. Heat oil in a deep fryer or large pot to 375°F (190°C).
5. Fry chicken pieces in batches, without overcrowding, for about 15-18 minutes or until golden brown and fully cooked.
6. Drain on paper towels and let rest for a few minutes before serving.
