1 teaspoon ground cumin
1 teaspoon ground coriander
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon paprika 🌶️
Salt and pepper to taste ❗
1 egg
For the Tomato Sauce
2 tablespoons olive oil 🫒
1 onion, chopped 🧅
2 cloves garlic, minced 🧄
1 can (14 oz) crushed tomatoes 🍅
1 teaspoon ground cumin
1 teaspoon ground coriander
1 teaspoon paprika 🌶️
1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional for heat)
Salt and pepper to taste ❗
Fresh cilantro for garnish (optional) 🌿
Instructions
1. Prepare the Meatballs
In a large bowl, combine the ground lamb, breadcrumbs, parsley, minced garlic, spices, salt, pepper, and egg. Mix until well combined. Form the mixture into small meatballs, about 1 inch in diameter.
2. Cook the Meatballs
In a large skillet, heat a tablespoon of olive oil over medium heat. Add the meatballs in batches, cooking for about 5-7 minutes, turning occasionally until browned on all sides. Remove the meatballs and set aside.
3. Make the Tomato Sauce
In the same skillet, add another tablespoon of olive oil. Sauté the chopped onion until soft and translucent, about 5 minutes. Stir in the minced garlic and cook for an additional minute. Add the crushed tomatoes, cumin, coriander, paprika, cayenne (if using), salt, and pepper. Bring to a simmer.
4. Combine Meatballs and Sauce
Return the meatballs to the skillet, nestling them into the tomato sauce. Cover and let simmer for about 15 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld and the meatballs to cook through.
5. Serve
Garnish with fresh cilantro if desired. Serve the Moroccan Lamb Meatballs in Tomato Sauce over rice, couscous, or with crusty bread. Enjoy! 🍽️✨
