Ingredients:
For the Casserole:
1 loaf brioche or French bread, cut into cubes
4 ripe bananas, sliced
6 large eggs
1 ½ cups whole milk
½ cup heavy cream
½ cup brown sugar
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
¼ teaspoon salt
For the Topping:
½ cup unsalted butter, melted
½ cup brown sugar
1 teaspoon cinnamon
½ cup chopped pecans or walnuts (optional)
For Serving:
Maple syrup
Powdered sugar
Whipped cream
Instructions:
Prepare the Baking Dish:
Grease a 9x13-inch baking dish and add half of the cubed bread.
Layer with sliced bananas, then top with the remaining bread cubes.
Make the Custard:
In a bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, heavy cream, brown sugar, vanilla, cinnamon, and salt.
Pour evenly over the bread, pressing gently to ensure absorption.
Add the Topping:
In a small bowl, mix melted butter, brown sugar, cinnamon, and nuts (if using).
Drizzle over the top of the casserole.
Chill & Bake:
Cover and refrigerate for at least 2 hours or overnight for best results.
Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and bake uncovered for 40-45 minutes until golden and set.
Serve & Enjoy:
Let cool slightly, then dust with powdered sugar.
Serve with maple syrup and whipped cream if desired.
