A comforting, family-friendly dish that combines tender potatoes with a tasty layer of minced meat, all grated with melted cheese Un🧀.
Ingredients
800 g of potatoes
500g minced meat (beef, pork or a mix of both)
1 medium onion, finely chopped
2 cloves of garlic, minced
400 g crushed tomatoes (or tomato sauce)
100 ml beef or vegetable broth
150 g of grated cheese (emmental, cheddar or mozzarella)
1 tablespoon of olive oil
1 teaspoon paprika (optional)
1 teaspoon of herbs of Provence or thyme
Salt and pepper to taste
Fresh chopped parsley for garnish
Instructions
Preparing the potatoes:
Peel the potatoes and cut them into thin rounds (about 3-4 mm thick).
Cook them in salted boiling water for 5-7 minutes until slightly tender, but not completely cooked. Listen and book.
Preparing the minced meat :
Heat the olive oil in a frying pan over medium heat.
Add the onion and garlic, and simmer until translucent.
Put in the ground beef and cook until a nice golden brown.
Add crushed tomatoes, broth, paprika, herbs, salt and pepper. Let simmer for 10 minutes until sauce thickens slightly.
Assembling the pan:
Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F).
In a gratin dish, arrange a first layer of potatoes.
Add a layer of ground beef Repeat until the ingredients are exhausted, ending with a layer of potatoes.
Parssemez with grated cheese on top.
Cooking:
Bake for 25-30 minutes, until cheese is well melted and golden brown.
Serve :
Let rest 5 minutes before serving.
Top with chopped fresh parsley for a touch of coolness.
Tips:
You can add vegetables like carrots or zucchini for more flavor and texture.
For a creamier version, layer of bechamel between the potatoes and the meat.
