Ingredients

For the Patties:

- 1 lb ground beef (80% lean, 20% fat)

- Salt and black pepper to taste

- Optional: Garlic powder, onion powder, or smoked paprika


**For the Burger Assembly:**

- 2 large burger buns

- 4 slices of cheese (cheddar, American, or your choice)

- Lettuce leaves

- Sliced tomato

- Sliced pickles

- Sliced onions (optional)

- Condiments: Ketchup, mustard, mayo, or your favorite burger sauce

Instructions


1. **Prepare the Patties:**

   - Divide the ground beef into four equal portions (about 4 oz each).

   - Roll each portion into a ball and gently flatten into a patty about ½ inch thick. 

   - Season both sides with salt, pepper, and optional spices.


2. **Cook the Patties:**

   - Heat a skillet or grill to medium-high heat.

   - Cook the patties for 3–4 minutes per side for medium doneness, or adjust to your preference.

   - In the last minute of cooking, place a slice of cheese on top of each patty to melt.


3. **Toast the Buns:**

   - Butter the inside of the buns lightly and toast on a skillet or grill until golden and crispy.


4. **Assemble the Burger:**

   - Spread mayo or your preferred sauce on the bottom bun.

   - Add a lettuce leaf, a tomato slice, and pickles.

   - Place one patty with melted cheese on top.

   - Add the second patty with melted cheese.

   - Optionally, add sliced onions or more sauce on top.

   - Cap with the top bun.


5. **Serve:**

   - Serve immediately with fries, coleslaw, or your favorite side dish.
