Philly Cheesesteak Egg Rolls

Ingredients

1 lb ribeye steak or flank steak, thinly sliced

1 tablespoon olive oil

1 medium onion, thinly sliced

1 green bell pepper, thinly sliced

Salt and pepper, to taste

1 cup provolone cheese, shredded (or cheese of your choice)

Egg roll wrappers

1 egg, beaten (for sealing)

Oil for frying (vegetable or canola)

Instructions

1. Prepare the Filling:

In a skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the sliced onion and green bell pepper, cooking until softened, about 5 minutes.

Add the thinly sliced steak to the skillet. Season with salt and pepper, cooking until the meat is browned and cooked through, about 3-5 minutes. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.

Stir in the shredded cheese until melted and well combined.

2. Assemble the Egg Rolls:

Lay an egg roll wrapper on a clean surface, with one corner pointing towards you (like a diamond shape).

Place about 2-3 tablespoons of the cheesesteak filling in the center of the wrapper.

Brush the edges of the wrapper with the beaten egg. Fold the bottom corner over the filling, then fold in the sides and roll up tightly to seal. Repeat with the remaining wrappers and filling.

3. Fry the Egg Rolls:

Heat about 2 inches of oil in a deep frying pan or pot over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).

Carefully add a few egg rolls at a time, frying until golden brown and crispy, about 3-4 minutes per side. Make sure not to overcrowd the pan.

Remove the cooked egg rolls with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.

4. Serve:

Serve hot with your favorite dipping sauce, such as marinara, ranch, or spicy ketchup.

Tips

For a healthier version, you can bake the egg rolls at 425°F (220°C) for about 15-20 minutes, brushing them with a little oil before baking for crispiness.

Feel free to customize the filling by adding mushrooms or switching up the cheese.

Enjoy your delicious Philly Cheesesteak Egg Rolls!
