 Gourmet Baked Macaroni and Cheese


Ingredients:




1 pound elbow macaroni

1/4 cup unsalted butter

1/4 cup all-purpose flour

4 cups whole milk

2 cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese

1 cup shredded Gruyère cheese

1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese

1 teaspoon Dijon mustard

1/2 teaspoon garlic powder

1/2 teaspoon onion powder

Salt and pepper to taste

1 cup panko breadcrumbs

2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted

2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley (for garnish)

Directions:


Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a 3-quart baking dish.

Cook the macaroni according to package directions until al dente. Drain and set aside.

In a large saucepan, melt 1/4 cup butter over medium heat. Stir in the flour and cook for 1-2 minutes until bubbly.

Gradually whisk in the milk and cook, stirring constantly, until the mixture thickens and comes to a simmer.

Remove from heat and stir in the cheddar, Gruyère, and Parmesan cheeses until melted and smooth.

Stir in the Dijon mustard, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper.

Add the cooked macaroni to the cheese sauce and mix well to coat.

Pour the macaroni and cheese into the prepared baking dish.

In a small bowl, combine the panko breadcrumbs and 2 tablespoons melted butter. Sprinkle evenly over the macaroni and cheese.

Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the sauce is bubbly.

Garnish with chopped fresh parsley before serving.
